Welcome to New Ross

We spent a couple of hours in New Ross touring an old three mast sailing vessel.   It was enjoyable and I’m sure glad that is not the way we would have to cruise today.

  • St Mary’s Abbee built in 1811
  • Located on the River Barrow
  • Ship is a replica of the Dunbrody famine ship
  • Built in 2001
  • Original was buit in 1845 and wrecked in 1875
  • It was used to transport passengers to North America to avoid the great famine of the time.
