Welcome to New Ross

We spent a couple of hours in New Ross touring an old  3 mast sailing vessel.   It was enjoyable and I’m sure glad that is not the way we would have to cruise today.

  • Charter in 1207
  • St Mary’s Abbee built in 1811
  • Located on the River Barrow
  • Ship is a replica of the Dunbrody famine ship
  • Built in 2001
  • Original was buit in 1845 and wrecked in 1875
  • It was used to transport passengers to North America to avoid the great famine of the time.
