Welcome to Singapore

To start our 37 day trip to Asia we flew from Orlando to Singapore.  We went from Orlando to Chicago, Chicago to Tokyo, and then Tokyo to Singapore.  It was about 22 hours in the air plus the layovers.   Longest flight to a destination we have ever taken.

Singapore is basically a country and city all rolled into one making it a little unusual.

We spent three days in Singapore on our own using the Hop On Hop Off bus system (2 routes) to get around and see the sights.   English is the official language so that was not a barrier at all.

The highlight of the city for us was the world famous Marina Bay Sands resort complex.  It is known for its casino, but the attached shops, hotel, and immense gardens are incredible.  The picture you see of the three towers with the island across the top is actually the hotel portion.  The view of Singapore from the top of the towers is fantastic.

It was in Singapore that we then boarded at Princess cruise ship for a 17 day cruise through Southeast Asia that ended in Beijing, From there we flew to Shanghai to start the land portion of the tour of China.
