Welcome to the Suez Canal

As part of our cruise it took a pretty much a full day to transit the 120 miles of the Suez Canal.   It is man made, but unlike the Panama Canal there are no locks in the system.  They were not required like in the Panama Canal.  Also it is not wide enough for two big ships to pass each other safely so there are a couple of staging areas, for lack of a better term while one group goes south and then another group goes north. It was slow easy ride.

As a point of interest if anybody ever thinks we are going to run out of sand just take a ride down the canal.
