Welcome to Cairns

In 2012 flew from Orlando to Los Angeles, laid over 8 hours, and then flew 14 hours to Brisbane, laid over another 2 hours and then flew 3 hours to Cairns to start our tour of Australia and New Zealand.

We had a day and a half in Cairns before we met our tour group for a welcome dinner.

It was from Cairns that we snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, Visited Green Island. and we went into the forest by cable car and back by train to Kuranda to interact with Koala’s

In 2025 Cairns as our first stop on the cruise after leaving Auckland.  We were supposed to have two days, but Cyclone Alfred had other ideas and we only got one. We used the day to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef again.   The condition of the reef is deteriorating for a variety of reasons and it is a sad thing to see.
