Welcome to Antigua

We visited the island of Antigua only once on a cruise in November 2023.   We booked a non-cruise ship excursion.   The tour we booked turned out to be only four of us in a van with a local guide to tour the island.   Being a British Commonwealth, English is the official language, and they drive on the left.   We made a number of stops, including a great natural bridge carved out by the ocean and then on to Nelson Dockyards, now a modern marina, along with a number of historical buildings.  After a great lunch we went up into the hills for some great views of the island.  The roads are narrow, with tight turns and more than their share of pot holes. If you are prone to motion sickness you may want to think twice before heading out for the whole day.

The main downtown area is right at the cruise terminal making it fairly easy to walk around the town.
