Welcome to Komodo Island

Komodo Island was the 5th stop on our cruise from Auckland, New Zealand to Bali.

It’s one claim to fame is the Komodo Dragons that roam the island freely.

You cannot get on the island unless you are with a guided tour and there is a park ranger with you at all times.   In March, when we were there, we saw a number of dragons, but a large number are still up at higher elevations for another couple of months.

Fun Fact   After only a day or two following birth, each dragon climbs up into a tree and stays there three to four years growing before coming back down to the ground.
